Article by BobCraig - Thursday 17 January, 2013

Asics Top Gun Wrestling

This is the weekend for the 27th annual AsicsTop Gun Wrestling match. This is an important tournament for all the area wrestlers in the Ohio area because this is an expellant gage for what will happen in the State wrestling tournament. Usually about half of those who win here end up being state champions.

Some of the big wrestling schools from Div I and Div. II will be bringing the best of the best to this tournament. Many were there last year and placed high in the State rankings. Massillon Perry, Massillon Jackson, Medina, CVCA, Strongsville, Claymont, Walsh Jesuit and North Canton Hoover are just a few of the schools that will be bringing big name wrestlers.

The events will start in alliance at 10:00 Friday morning January 18, 2013 and continue on until Saturday at about 11 PM. You can follow the action with your I phone by adding the following application.

There are several teams that have not brought wrestlers to Top Gun before that will be competing. These include Fort LeBoeuf PA., Loveland, Pickerington North and Point Pleasant WV. Also returning are local favorites Southeast and West Branch. The Top Gun will use 7 mats in 2013, 5 in the main gym and 2 in the auxiliary gym. The finals breaks down to 3 mats in the center of the main gym. There will be 44 teams preset and many top wrestlers in the area.
