Mike Edwards From Winton Woods

Article by BobCraig - Wednesday 23 January, 2013

Mike Edwards is a very good defensive back from Winton Woods High School and  has lettered the last  two years. Last year he came on to become a very fine player. He has great speed - 4.49, and has no problem staying with receivers with his 6' foot 180 lb. frame.

As a sophomore in 2010-11, Mike put up some impressive numbers.  He had 29 tackles and 33 assists.  Three interceptions and had one he ran back for a touchdown. He also is credited for having a fumble recovery.

Last year as a Junior Mike really exploded onto the scene recording 5 interceptions, over 90 tackles, two forced fumbles, two that he recovered.  He also plays special teams with his explosive speed.  Last year he had 600 yards in punt and kick off returns alone and returned 4 for touchdowns.

Next year for the Warriors, Mike plans on playing some offense.  He will make a great weapon with his speed if Winton Woods staff can figure how to get him the ball out in space.  He is very good at making things happen after he gets the ball.

Mike also plays basketball and baseball at Winton Woods and excels at those sports too.  He enjoys working out with friends and his cousin, Colerain stand out George Brown. With his uncle owning the gym, Mike takes plenty of advantage of the facilities.  He is constantly working on his speed and is trying to get stronger before his senior year this fall.

Mike has been looked at very serious by several schools.  He has been visited and interested in Michigan, Michigan St., Ohio State and Notre Dame. He states that he would be open to any interest from any Div. I school that would be interested in him.  He really has made no commitments as of right now.

Mike plans in the future to attend a college and play football.  He plans to take every advantage of a good education and would like to either go into business for himself or do something to help kids better themselves through sports.  He plans to attend camps this year including The NIKE camp and the 247 camp.
